Our group name -- Marked by Love -- was first suggested during the name brainstorming phase. It was inspired by The Message paraphrase of Jesus' baptism (specifically verses Matt. 3:16, Mark 1:9, Luke 3:21) and also the transfiguration (specifically verses Matt. 17:5, Mark 9:7).  Each reference shows the Father saying that Jesus is marked by His love. As God's children, because we have chosen Jesus as our personal Saviour and Lord, we too are marked by the Father's love and liked the idea of deriving the group name from that.

When we officially decided to go onwards with Marked by Love as the group name, that's when something very interesting happened.  We had already purchased MarkedByLove.com and were in the very early stages of setting the site up.  It was our first rehearsal following all this new "Marked by Love" activity.  Donna had been spending a lot of time staring at the words "marked by love" in one form or another, and as we were running down Jesus is My Light she suddenly stopped and began exclaiming that "it's right there!".  Donna had just sung the following line found in the first verse of Jesus is My Light:

All the way is marked by love divine,

It was in front of our faces the entire time, found in the words of the very first song we ever sang together as a trio.  That affirmation was a pretty nice way to start things off with our new name.
